Adults who consumed 20% or more of their daily calories from ultraprocessed foods showed a 28% faster rate of global cognitive decline and a 25% faster rate in executive function decline over eight years, according to a study from Brazil involving 10,775 adults ages 35 to 74 that was published in JAMA Neurology. “Research has shown over and over again that we benefit from healthy choices at any age,” says study co-author Natalia Gomes Goncalves, Ph.D. The study was reported by MedPage Today.
