DrBicuspid (2/11, Busch) reported a new study suggests “the severity of tooth clenching and grinding that patients experience may be associated with their vitamin D levels.” By looking at blood tests, researchers observed that “individuals with low levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]), the metabolized form of vitamin D that is used to assess deficiency, reported having moderate and severe bruxism.” The findings were published in Clinical and Experimental Dental Research.
As just a matter of good general and dental health, make sure your vitamin D level is checked routinely, since so many people are deficient in vitamin D – and treating low vitamin D is easy!
